This bone-shaped microfiber sponge will gently clean exterior surfaces without scratching.

In your early days of car care, you might have purchased one of those foam, bone-shaped sponges from a discount store without a second thought. But you’ve learned a lot since your first vehicle, and you undoubtedly know how harmful a poor quality sponge can be to a delicate paint finish. Many synthetic sponges are made of closed cell polyurethane foam. The material is durable, but the tiny cells tend to hold onto contaminants rather than releasing them into the rinse water. Gritty particles end up being dragged across your vehicle’s paint. Upgrade your wash sponge to this microfiber-covered pad that we’ve affectionately named “The Bone.” It maintains the water capacity of an ordinary sponge, but its soft microfiber covering is much safer for your paint.

The Bone is a thick foam pad covered in fluffy, soft microfiber. Rather than the dense loops found in our towels, this microfiber is open-ended to form millions of tiny fingers. The fingers gently scrub the surface of your vehicle to remove contaminants, but they will never scratch. The pile is deep enough to allow loose grit to migrate into the fibers rather than be dragged across the paint surface. Since the fibers are open-ended instead of looped, they release gritty particles into the rinse water rather than holding them within the loops.

The inner foam pad is 3 inches thick and bone-shaped for an easy grip, even with wet hands. The overall dimensions of The Bone are 9” x 5”. The dense foam pad holds an abundance of soapy water so the paint surface is well-lubricated as you wash.

To care for The Bone, rinse it well after use and squeeze out excess water. Allow it to air dry. If it become soiled, toss it in the washing machine with your other microfiber products and Pinnacle Micro Rejuvenator. You can also use DP Polishing Pad Rejuvenator in 3-4 gallons of water. Rinse well and air dry.

Detailer’s Tip: Use the Autogeek Wash System to minimize the risk of swirl marks as you wash. The system consists of a 5 gallon bucket equipped with the Grit Guard® Insert. The Grit Guard® is a raised grid that stabilizes the water at the bottom of the bucket. When you re-wet The Bone, loose contaminants will settle to the bottom of the bucket and stay there. The wash system allows you to wash with a fresh, clean sponge every time.

For the best results, use a shampoo that is rich in lubricants. Wolfgang Auto Bathe will create mounds of suds that serve as a slick barrier between the surface of your vehicle and loosened contaminants. Always dry your vehicle completely with The Supreme Guzzler to prevent water spots.
